I'll be using three places that I'm most familiar with; Mobian World: Sonic, Mushroon Kingdom: Super Mario Bros and Equestria: My little pony

Plausible ideas

1. World Traveling (Dimension wise)
~During one trip at the time, a mysterious stranger snatches naïve phoenix girl right under their noses and dashes away into a portal that leads to the Mushroom Kingdom. Five girls follows the trail behind the kidnapper but all ended up out of place, two land in the gardens of the Mushroom Castle, one at Yoshi island. Two by the dark lands near Bowser's territory. So much to sticking with the plan: Stay together
~~ The group was about to part ways onto heading home however, a strange green pony with dashing black ape cloak halted their pathways and merely sent them in random directions with a flick of a cane that the stallion had. Two fells into the world of Mobian, where both split apart and landed farther from each other. Four was scattered in the Mushroom Kingdom, many most have met their dread; Captured and taken to Bowser. Last three individuals ended up in Equestria, fallen among the most populated areas.
